School immersions

Take your school group on a unique learning experience in Nepal with Hands on Development tours

At Hands on Development we believe that young people are the key to solving some of the world's greatest challenges. That’s why we offer our life changing education tours in Nepal to school groups.

Our school immersions are designed to help middle and high school students to become more active and compassionate individuals in an increasingly borderless world. It takes them away from their corners, teaches them about the world outside classrooms, encourages them to draw connections from real world issues and gives them knowledge on how to make stronger contributions to their society.

Over the course of 10 days, students will be exposed to Nepal’s culture, beliefs and values, giving them a tiny glimpse of the diversity that exists in the world, breaking down stereotypes and expanding their world-view. Students will meet, learn and bond with local communities and develop an understanding of the difference of living in one of the world’s poorest countries. They will be exposed to a range of different issues such as climate change, poverty, inequality and how communities are responding to solve them.

Tailored to suit any specific learning outcomes and needs, our experience promotes a powerful overseas learning environment for young people in a safe and controlled manner.

Our children could be the key to solve some of the world’s greatest challenges: help us make the world a more sustainable place, improve the lives of those in need through education and healthcare, promote a more inclusive, just and peaceful world for all of us. It’s up to us to help them develop their full potential.

We customise tours based on the school requirements. Contact us for more details.

Shaping tomorrow’s leaders

University study tours to Nepal

What qualities do next generation leaders need to meet the challenges in the 21st century? In an increasingly interconnected and globalised society – more than ever before – we need future leaders with a vision. The ones who are able to drive that vision whilst making difficult decisions in a rapidly changing environment. The ones who are able to engage and mobilise diverse teams whose members have their own deeply rooted culture and beliefs. And the ones who are able to navigate their way through complex challenges and problems that transcend national borders.

At Hands on Development, this is exactly what we prepare for. Our immersive tours are designed to equip students with international skills and knowledge, making them highly valued global players who revels in diversity, seeks solutions to problems and recognise different perspectives.

Over the course of 14 days, students will explore some of the social, economic and environmental challenges facing Nepal, expanding their knowledge so they are able to make stronger contributions in their future careers and their society as a whole.

They will be exposed to the country’s culture, beliefs and values, increasing their world-view and intercultural awareness.

They will learn to understand a range of different issues from the system of poverty and inequality to sustainability and fair trade, developing them into decision makers who seek different perspectives and support others.

They will meet aspiring leaders who work relentlessly in their chosen field, so they can see that change can start from something small.

What’s more, students will benefit from our knowledge, skills and experience that only come from years of working alongside the Nepali community: rural and remote communities, women who stand marginalised in the society and communities that live at the bottom of the caste system to name a few.

Equally important, they will also benefit from our strong partnerships with social enterprises, fair trade producers and not-for-profit organisations in Nepal, giving students access to a wealth of experience and knowledge that will help them make connections and navigate their ideas.

With tough challenges ahead, there is no question that we need to better prepare our students for the future world. So they become graduates who are able to work across the boundaries, graduates who are the leading edge of their fields and graduates who lead with vision and foresight.

Our tours are customised based on university requirements. Contact us for more details.

Professional development with a difference.

We realise that work can be stressful at times. And there isn’t much time to do anything else, except to get things done. So after a particularly busy period of the year, why not take your team away from their desk to move forward?

Our 10-day tour to Nepal can provide a much needed break from the day-to-day routine that takes so much of your time. We can take you to the depths of the Annapurna region and trek up to Poon Hill summit (3210 m) where you will be rewarded by the 360-degree stunning view of the world’s highest peaks. We can also take you to the heart of Nepal to explore its history, culture and challenges, giving you deeper insights into the the life of Nepali people. Or, we can combine both for you and create a custom itinerary that is suitable for your needs.

During the trip, you and your team will also be able to participate in various activities, giving you a chance to create stronger team bonds outside work. You can participate in a Nepali cooking class run by disadvantaged women in Nepal. You can explore the ins and outs of Kathmandu’s alleyways discovering its beliefs, traditions and customs through arts, ancient architecture and food. Maybe you can even challenge your team to climb 3800 stone paved steps, wander through the wildlife in lush forests and watch the sun rise over the snow capped mountains.

Along the way, your trip with us will also support those who are in need. And if that’s not enough, you and your team will also have a chance to share your skills and expertise with the women we help. These skill sharing sessions are hugely invaluable for them – it fills in the skill gaps, creates better employment opportunities and makes a difference in the community.

Whether it’s rewinding, challenging or rewarding your team after a particularly busy year, we can provide a wonderful trip for you and your team. A trip that builds your spirits, strengthens your bonds and helps create change.

We customise tours based on the group requirement. You can fundraise for our community empowerment projects too.
